We are a small family owned and run boutique winery. We specialize in red wine varietals and innovative ways to produce our estate grown fruit. We have two French varietals Merlot and Shiraz and two Italian varietals Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. The Italian varietals are matured in 1000 litre Terracotta Amphorae pots. The Merlot and Shiraz are predominantly aged in French oak however we are also the first in the world to age a small limited release of Shiraz in salvaged Australian River Red gum barrels.


Star Lane Winery is 450 metres about sea level in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. We utilize traditional French winemaking techniques for the winemaking. We utilize wild (or natural yeast) which is naturally on the skin of the berries and not cultured yeasts are added. We hand plunging and pump overs and basket press our wines. 

The Shiraz and Merlot is planted on the home block and is planted on Permian Glacial Soil, which is a very unique and ancient soil structure with many benefits for grape growing. The Nebbiolo and Sangiovese is planted on a granite ridge which is only a few kilometres from the winery in a location well suited to these Italian varietals.

Our philosophy is to create ultra premium innovative wines that people love to drink and share with family and friends.

We want our wines to be a reflection and express the terroir that the Beechworth Wine Region is becoming re-known for. With minimum intervention from vine to glass.
